Who is Kayla? At what point did you discover your passion for fashion?
An artist who specializes in different and bold styles. -- My passion for fashion has always been with me. Since middle school, I've always had the goal to create my own pieces and show up and show out. I was that girl in high school that wore the 4 inch heels to class.
How would you describe your style?
I am always down to try new things and I am not afraid to jump out the box and just see how it turns out. I am all for risk when it comes to my style. Besides, life is short to dress boring.
It's a regular day, how do you select what to wear?
I always consider where I am going, how far I am walking and then my activity level. Then I try to see what I have, what I haven't worn before and then go from there. Sometimes it takes a long time and others it doesn't, it just depends on if the thought of the outfit actually looks good on.
What are your fashion inspirations? Where do you draw from?
I love Pinterest and of course I have to always search Black women. I love to see how people visualize things and I like to see how I can put my spin on things. I also love following other fashion people, especially Black creatives.
If you could only have one statement piece in an outfit, what are you selecting?
A Hat. I am lazy with my hair and hats come in handy and can elevate any look.
What do you do to continue learning and developing your craft?
I try to travel, go to art museums, converse with like-minded professionals. I continue to learn and develop my craft through my experiences. Life lessons are really the best teacher.
